10 reasons to draft Ruby

1. She's a doctor. A doctor, honey.
2. If the Tories are so mad about "old white men" telling them what to do, maybe they'd prefer being told what to do by a young Sikh woman. Ruby is only 32, and is (along with Nina Grewal) one of the first Sikh women to serve in Canada's parliament, and one of only a handful of Indo-Canadian women to do so.
3. Despite that, she's paid her dues. Ruby has been involved in Liberal politics since the eighties, in two different provinces (Ontario and Manitoba).
4. Cross-Canada appeal. Ruby was born in Winnipeg and now resides in the GTA. Additionally, as an Indo-Canadian she can appeal to Indo-Canadian communities across Canada. I'm also pretty sure she is bilingual, although I need to check on that.
5. Ruby values Canada's relationship with the United States of America. Some may scoff, but the Americans are both our friends and our biggest economic partners. We need a Liberal leader, and a Prime Minister, who can appreciate that and work with the Americans.
6. But Ruby is also a progressive. She voted for same-sex marriage and refused to be intimidated when some conservative Sikh leaders and Conservative candidate Sam Hundal tried to use it against her. Ruby isn't afraid to stand up for what's right.
7. Ruby understands new Canadians. Her parents were immigrants, and in parliament she has worked hard for immigrants to our country. Ruby introduced a private member’s motion calling on the government to work in collaboration with all stakeholders to create a separate department for Foreign Credential Recognition.
8. Ruby has a big heart. She helped organize relief efforts after the 2005 tsunami tragedy in South-East Asia, helping to raise over $4 million dollars and also personally travelling to the region with former PM Paul Martin.
9. She's beautiful. Sorry, but how can we not mention this? If Ruby was our PM, Canada would have the best-looking head of state on Earth! (With apologies to Benazir Bhutto)
10. She's a winner. Ruby kicked some serious ass in the last election, which is more than we can say for some potential Liberal leadership candidates.
We hope you'll agree that Ruby is an ideal candidate for Liberal leader! Go, Ruby, go!
